Bloodwood Wines Guide
Bloodwood holds a special place in Orange wine history as one of the region's original pioneer producers. Stephen Doyle planted vines in the early 1980s — before Orange had a wine identity, before the region had its Geographic Indication, before anyone outside the area had heard of Orange wines. Bloodwood helped prove that Orange could produce wines of genuine quality and character, and the producer continues to make distinctive, personality-driven wines that reflect decades of understanding this specific patch of country.
The Wines
Bloodwood's wines have character and individuality. The Shiraz is one of the region's benchmarks for the cool climate, savoury style — peppery, medium-bodied, and genuinely food-friendly. The Chardonnay shows restrained elegance. The Rosé — Bloodwood's Big Men in Tights — is one of Australia's most distinctive and celebrated rosés, made long before rosé was fashionable. These are wines with personality, made by a producer who trusts their own palate and their own land.
